Ross University Student Associate American Veterinary Medical Association
Welcome from the SAAVMA President
My name is Andrew Schwarz and I am currently the President of the Student Association of the American Veterinary Medical Association (SAAVMA) here at Ross University School of Veterinary medicine (formerly the SGA). As another summer semester is ending and I head in to my last semester as your president, I am very proud of the Students here at Ross. Over the last 3 semester, Ross has been evolving to keep up with the changes in the Veterinary community world -wide. The student body not only made sure their voices were heard but constructively tried to help make our education and the education of those arriving after we depart the shores of St. Kitts the high standard one expects with the Ross name. There were times over the last year, where the student body had to stand tall and united in the face of tragedies. It is important to remember that while we are 7 very different semester, we are all together here in the “trenches” and a family of 700 plus.
When this executive board took office last August, our goal was to enhance student life and the sense of community among colleagues while here in St. Kitts because all of us are away from home and the everyday familiarities of the States. I believe, as I am sure the executive board agrees that we have accomplished at least a small part of this intended goal with event like the Semester Olympics. But it is also important to remember that as a community we also helped those outside our Ross family whether it be opening our doors to the public to teach them important lessons on the pet-owner relationship and public health to raising money for the Red cross and people in need. So thank you all for the privilege of being your representative and to those that have worked just as hard as I, to make Ross great.
Sincerely,
Andy Schwarz
